Whilst we here at WSA have very little time, if any, for Ed Woodward and the role he is obviously unable to fulfill at Manchester United, we are also getting a little tired of José Mourinho’s barbed comments whereby everything that is wrong with the club is someone else’s fault.

We know he has been one of the most successful club managers ever. How could we not know when he insists on reminding us at every opportunity?

We also know that he appears to remain dedicated to the cause at Old Trafford despite still not settling in Manchester and despite, having spent more than £300 million since his arrival, seeing the team regress. (more…)

Back in the day there was a popular TV programme called Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased). The general storyline was that a couple of mates teamed up to open a detective agency only for one of the partners, (Marty Hopkirk), to get killed in the first episode.

It then transpires that his ghost will continue to help Geoff Randall to solve crimes and lock up the ungodly. Now here’s the rub. Geoff can actually see and communicate with Marty’s ghost and it doesn’t take too long for him to realise that he is the only person with this ability.

We here at WSA have been getting to know how it feels to be Geoff Randall for the last couple of years. We have been watching Manchester City with interest and have been amazed at how careless, clumsy and just downright poor Raheem Sterling has been. (more…)

Manchester United have bought Diogo Dalot from Porto. He is a 19 year-old right wing back who is also comfortable on the left and in midfield so, on this basis and unless he is exceptional, he is one for the future.

It is expected that he will be used to provide cover for the wing back position. He has been at the club for around two minutes and speaks fluent English.

Antonio Valencia is 33. He used to be a half decent winger until he broke his leg and became nervous about taking on defenders. He was, consequently, shifted back into the right wing back position at which he isn’t very good. (more…)

According to The Guardian Manchester United manager José Mourinho is interested in signing Diogo Dalot of Porto. He has a release clause of €20 million but, reportedly, this has not yet been triggered.

That is, unless you read the Daily Express, who say that United have triggered his release clause which means that he will be signing in the not too distant future.

He is a 19-year old right back who can also play on the left and in midfield. This would be a signing designed to give some competition to Antonio Valencia which, in fairness, shouldn’t be too difficult for anybody half competent in the art of defending! (more…)
